1) Make sure you organise your notes
I would recommend dividing them into different sections for each module - For me I did: Lecture Notes, Seminar Notes and Reading Notes. This made it easier for me to comprehend my understanding of the topic and keep it all organised for each module.
2) Before attending your lecture - copy and paste the slides into a word document.
Before attending my lecture I would copy and paste the slides into a word document so I could focus on what the lecturer was saying as opposed to focusing on copying the board.
3) Have a colour scheme
As you will see in the example of my notes below, I would separate the what the slides said, from the examples and from what the lecturer's explanation was.

4) Add page numbers to your notes
Adds structure and makes it easier to find your notes.
5) Add an appendix at the front of your notes
You can find the topic that you are looking in your notes a lot easier.
6) Most importantly - find a structure that works for you
All the things I have mentioned have worked for me and a few of my friends. But you need to find a system that works for you! It's definetly worth trying these methods because they really worked for me. But if not, don't be disheartened because it's trial and error. Honestly I didn't figure out what worked for me until third year, so don't worry :)
