Guide to starting uni

Make sure you go to events and your first seminars

Going to the events are really important as they are a great place to meet people at uni. Even though it's quite scary and intimidating going to these things, your mind will be at ease the more you do it. It's just a great way to go and meet people.

Join societies

Make sure to sign up to quite a few societies. Even the random ones. They are a great way to meet people.

Romanticise your life!

Walk around campus, get familiar with it. Play a really cliche song that you hear in all of the films. I played 'Welcome to New York' by Taylor Swift. It made me feel like a bhaddie and I actually had goosebumps walking around. It is kind of funny because I wasn't studying in New York, I was studying in Liverpool, England. But.... regardless of that.... it was really fun and made me excited about this new chapter.

Be yourself!

This is such an exciting chapter of your life.  It is really important for you to remind yourself that. Throughout college and high school you are conditioned into falling in line with the crowd. But at uni, you can be whoever you want to be. If you want to be a dancer, join the dance society and learn how to dance.

This experience is about you. So be yourself and people will love you. Even in your moments of doubt and self-deprication, recognise them for what they are - doubts. Then after acknowledging them, put your confident cap on and have fun :) This is so exciting!
